MINIMALISTIC OFFICE INTERIOR
Scandinavian-Style Office in a Historic Interwar Building
This Scandinavian-style office interior covers 260 m² in a Lithuanian interwar building. Moreover, architects Laurynas Avyžius and Gediminas Mačiulis designed it to blend history, minimalism, and comfort seamlessly.
Embracing the Building’s Historic Character
The building’s high ceilings and interwar details influenced many design choices. For example, the team preserved key elements like marble stairs, railings, and black-and-white tile floors. Additionally, they repainted the original interior doors in matte gray to fit the modern design.
A Monochrome Palette with a Bold Twist
The interior features a monochrome palette and high-quality Scandinavian furniture. Furthermore, a patterned carpet runs throughout the office. Its chaotic, marble-like design contrasts the minimalist walls and ceilings. At the same time, it visually unites all rooms.
Open Ceilings and Smart Technical Integration
To maintain spaciousness, the designers painted ducts and ceilings matte black. Then, they framed these with a white metal grid. As a result, the ceiling looks modern yet uncluttered, and the room’s height feels preserved.
Thoughtful Furniture and Layout
The office includes height-adjustable desks, ergonomic chairs, and bright lighting to boost comfort. Also, visitors feel welcomed by black leather armchairs in the reception area. Executive rooms feature plywood-and-leather duo chairs paired with sleek black Cone coffee tables. Custom kitchen units, storage cabinets, and comfortable seating appear throughout. Moreover, each room offers a lounge zone for staff and guests.
Balancing Modernity and History
This project balances respect for the building’s historic character with modern, functional design. Consequently, it creates a cozy, bright, and private workspace tailored to dynamic teams.
