Office building, called Daimonda is located in Taikos Avenue, Dainava district, Kaunas. The object of modern architecture, designed in the industrial district is a symbol of the regeneration. The dominant central type of building is mitigated on this plot. The ratio of the area and area occupied by the building creates a cozy space surrounding the object.
The structure of the house consists of two shifted rectangular volumes. In the center, the entrance and the staircase are designed along with these guidelines, allowing access to further spaces. Next to it is the core of vertical communications and sanitary facilities. Shared office space is located in the center of the building, and at the end, enclosed conference rooms and private offices were designed.
The facade of the office building is created as a shell that surrounds both volumes. A clear orientation at the ends of the volumes is dictated by placing large showcase windows. The northern and southern facades are divided into modernist horizontal window strips. In this way, the object opens to visitors from both ends, staying more restrained on the sides. While navigating the indoor space, workers experience visual opening and maximum daylight.
The character of the interior is close to the industrial identity of the district. Leaving many concrete surfaces in the ceiling, partitions, columns, and stairs radiate rigidity and integrity. The industrial atmosphere is further enhanced by open ventilation paths and assemblies, bare structural elements. As a modern building, the aesthetic means of expressing the open skeleton is exposed here.
Design ideas on the landscape of the area around the building have a minimal impact on the volume concept. The surrounding parking lots are relaxed by tree groups, clear, well-grounded paths leading to the entrance were shaped. The yard is vitalized up by a bright, abstract, wood-like, sculptural element.
Daimonda has a spacious layout, a clear volume concept, and a neat, industrial-style architecture. It is a modern and comfortable workspace that creates a cozy, productive and innovative atmosphere.
