Living House In Ringaudai
The house is built in the house district “Žemyna”, in Akademija, Kaunas district. The plot on three sides is surrounded by neighbouring buildings, but one side of the plot is bordered by a small forest. The L-shaped building creates an inner courtyard that is oriented to the open side of the plot with a view of the natural terrain.
The building is oriented towards the long side of the street, where solid monolithic volume meets us. The one-storey building with a two-seater garage is distinguished by its calm aesthetic expression. The main entrance is highlighted by a concrete roof, which indicates the direction. At the entrance to the building we are welcomed by a hall with two possible directions. Turn right into the sleeping area with three rooms, a spacious bath and a parents’ bedroom with a separate wardrobe. Turning left, we pass the garage, the sanitary unit and enter the open leisure area – a living room, dining room and kitchen with a pantry. From here you can view the inner courtyard and the green area through the window windows.
Two materials are used in the exterior – thermo wood and concrete. The minimalist volume of the building is surrounded by diamond-shaped thermo wood briquettes that contrast with the accents of the building – monolithic concrete roofs.
Concrete monolithic overlay as continuity from the interior moves to the exterior with expressive remaining texture. The long volume of the building is divided into recesses and verticals – LED strips in the facades and narrow window rhythm. The metal fence replicates the vertical rhythm of the facade, further enhancing the overall idea.
